Distance learning pros and cons

Looking at the many ideas of distance learning I can think of pros and cons for each one of them. The good thing about distance learning is the ability to reach more people in different areas. This allows for more people to be able to take classes that might not be offered in their area otherwise. For example, I live 4 -5 hours from Morehead, but I can take the classes because of the online classes. Distance learning in the classroom is a good thing that way you can educate many students at once. This also insured that I have a job.
The cons of distance education is breaking down the barriers of communication between the students and teachers whether they are in a classroom or on the internet. New ways of communicating with individual and unique students takes place in a classroom daily depending on the topic that you are talking about. If you are working online, than you must deal with the topic of how to communicate. The teacher can’t communicate effectively with a students if they never have one to one communication or don’t know how to speak with the class as a whole. Online learning is also prone to technical errors like downed service or even a storm can put out the electricity in which you can no longer communicate with anyone.
