Internet shutdown

March 19, 2008 · 1 Comment

I am really trying to get my work done, but the harder I try the more times my computer locks up.  I have been reading what I can of everyone’s posts before it locks up, but it is really frustrating to have to shut your computer down and restart after about 4 blogs.  It seems that everyone is posting really interesting stuff so I want to read all, but can’t.  I have 40 posts left to read last night so who knows how many by this morning.  Hopefully I can get out of town to purchase a new router soon.  We only have Walmart here to buy one and I would like to get a good brand that I know will work.

So with that being said, I was reading about “why teach” and as I read about the homebound students and the” facebook is for cat pictures” ( (or something to that nature) posts, I began to wonder that myself, “why do we need teachers”.  From  my experience, homebound students that come to the public schools in the high school are usually farther advanced mentally then a regular high schooler.  They usually understand concepts and can teach others easier.  So, in my opinion, why don’t we guide instead of teach.  I don’t think that our profession is in danger quite yet, but I do feel that if we add anymore test and pressure, we won’t want to be teachers.

    Hey Barb,
I sympathize with you on the internet problems. It can be so frustrating. I remember when I was using my other notebook and had to wat so long to change programs becuse it took so long. I would literately doze off while changing from the reader to the blog. I finally had to get a new computer which was my problem.

I don’t know about anyone else but we have had a Lynksis router since 2005 and have had no problems with it. I did purchase it at Walmart which my provider suggested. We currently use 2 wireless notebooks and one desktop on it. In any case, I hope you get back on track soon.
